Belmead-South Run Crossing
Convenient and safe, the Belmead-South Run Crossing neighborhood is a great area for dog lovers and families. Walking Fido is not a chore when you can take him to the South Run Dog Park where pups can run and play off-leash in a large fenced area. Although the space is not divided for large and small dogs, most pups will play nicely, and the agility equipment should help Fido work off his excess energy. You will need to bring your own water bowls, but there is water near the park to fill up bottles.

Living in the West Springfield neighborhood offers puppy parents an opportunity to socialize with friends and their canine companions. When your pooch is ready for his daily walk, head over to Cardinal Forest Park. You can stroll along the trail with Fido on his leash and let him sniff the plants and explore nature. The park is conveniently located in the center of town, and offers a great place to walk your pup and enjoy nature. A pavilion is available for a quick picnic lunch, and your pup can roam around the pond having a snifftastic time. The playground is great for the children, and you and your pooch can relax in the shade. Paisano’s Pizza is a wonderful pet-friendly restaurant where you and the family can savor specialty pizzas or a variety of Italian cuisine.

North Springfield
The North Springfield neighborhood features amazing trails at Lake Accotink Park. When you bring Fido and the family, you can enjoy walking along the four-mile-long natural surfaced path, which is part of the Rais-to-Trails Conservancy. Other amenities at the park include fishing and canoeing, and picnic shelters when you and your pup need some shade and a snack. When it’s time for lunch or dinner, head over to The Swiss Bakery for some yummy pastries at the outdoor tables,or Kilroy’s Pub and Restaurant where you and Fido can enjoy a drink and meal on the patio.

Monticello Woods
Situated in the Monticello Woods neighborhood, pup parents are frequently found walking Fido along the trails of Franconia Park. The area features soccer and baseball fields, and is a great place to take your pup for walk while the children play. If your pooch gets bored with this park, take a walk over to Monticello Park where your pup can spend some time off-leash- just note that the area is not fenced. You will need to keep an eye on your pup and bring your own water bottles and doggie waste bags. Dinner time allows families to enjoy a meal with Fido at Paradiso Ristorante, which features outdoor tables and water bowls for thirsty pups.
