Overview

August 10 marks National Spoil Your Dog Day! As doting pet parents ourselves, we know you don’t need a holiday to spoil your fur-baby — but showing your pup some extra love can’t hurt. Your dog is sure to appreciate whatever you do for them, even if it's just extra snuggles and pets.

Looking for new ways to make your fur-baby feel extra special this National Spoil Your Dog Day? We've got you covered!

Buy your pooch a new dog bed

If your dog is more of a couch puptato than an outdoor adventurer, it can be difficult to know how to spoil them. But we guarantee you a new dog bed will be the way to their heart.

Nowadays, pet supply companies carry all sorts of dog beds, from memory foam to cooling beds, to suit any canine's preference. You'll even find burrow beds for pooches that like to be under covers and orthopedic beds for pups with bad backs. Whichever bed you choose, we're sure your pup will appreciate it!

Make your dog some tasty treats

This National Spoil Your Dog Day, why not make your pup a homemade snack? For an extra personal touch, search for dog treat recipes that incorporate Fifi's favorite foods. If you really want to spoil your baby, invest in or make a food puzzle to turn treat time into playtime!

Take your pup on a beach or lake trip

There's no better way to end a hot summer on a high note than with a trip to the beach with your fur-baby. Your pup will feel #blessed to spend the day frolicking in the water with you. If you don't live near a body of water, grab a kiddie pool and fill it up for your fur-babies — they'll love it just the same!

Before you "em-bark" on your outdoor adventure, check out our water safety guides for pets:

Have a "spaw" day

Want to really impress your pup? Schedule them a spa day at a local dog spa.

Not close to a dog spa? There are lots of ways to DIY a spa day at home. Give your pup a nice long massage or a bubble bath to soothe those tired paws. You might also try making your own paw balm to combat painful cracking on the paw pads. This activity is sure to make your pup feel like the star of the show!

Take your dog shopping

A shopping date is the "pawfect" way to spoil a play-oriented pup. Take your pooch to an animal supply store and let them pick out their own toys, treats, and bones. Your pup will have a blast browsing the shelves and getting to choose their plushies and chews.

After your shopping spree, treat your pup to a nice meal at a dog-friendly restaurant. (Bonus points for choosing a spot that has a menu especially for canine customers!)

Our pit bull isn't aggressive with most family members. He is only 4 years old (+/- a few months). He is generally very good with everyone, but my oldest daughter, and granddaughters from different families, are the only ones he has bitten this year.

This is such a good idea--I didn't realize this was a holiday, let alone that it was coming up soon. Time to make some plans! XD Are you accepting guest posts?
