The village of Carol Stream may not be a bustling place with tourist attractions and thriving nightlife, but you and your pooch are always welcome to roam the streets and explore the public parks in this quiet little town. Located about 35 miles west of the Windy City, the village features a dog park, plenty of hiking and biking trails in the surrounding areas, and 3 veterinary hospitals.

Nestled in the very heart of the village, Carol Stream Bark Park is a simple but pawesome place to have fun with a pooch, exercising, socializing or just hanging out and watching others. The fully fenced area of the park has plenty of room to run, soft grass to wallow in, and even a cool obstacle course where Fido can show off his speed and agility! The dog park is adjacent to Barbara O’Rahilly Volunteer Park, which is a nice place to have an on-leash walk along Klein Creek.

One of the longest -- and the nation’s first -- rail-trail conversions is Illinois Prairie Path, winding south of Carol Stream and offering you more than 58 miles of walking fun. This long trail meanders throughout Cook, DuPage, and Kane counties, and is considered one of the best in the state. Dogs must be on-leash on this trail.

Although Carol Stream has a few things to do with your best fur-iend, you'll find more activities just a short drive out of town.
