Kalispell is more than a great name and gorgeous city, it also serves as the county seat of Flathead County, Montana. Kalispell is one of the larger and more vibrant cities in the Northwest region. Kalispell is a great place to start and raise a family, and a family needs a staunch defender. It does not (or should not!) come as a surprise that on average there is one dog for each 50 citizens in Kalispell.

It's quite possible that Rover and Fido will have the time of their lives in the Hugh Rogers WAG Park in the neighboring city of Whitefish. The park, which is over 5 acres in size, opened in 2009 and has been widely popular. It has been heralded by locals, and reviewers, as one of the best dog parks in the entire country. The paved walking path through the park offers a relaxing stroll while the dogs can frolic off their leash.

The Hugh Rogers WAG Park is the first dog park in the Flathead Valley, and its success sparked the interest in opening a similar, off-leash dog park in Kalispell, Montana. The non-profit organization Paws to Play was founded in 2010 to raise funds for Kalispell to have its own dog park.

Are you planning a short stay to Kalispell to experience the Glacier National Park or visit the Blacktail Mountain Ski Area? Your furry friend is more than welcome in one of the many pet-friendly hotels such as Red Lion Hotel and La Quinta Inn & Suites.
