Lower Rattlesnake
Greenough Park combines natural beauty with great amenities to create one puptastic park! Located 10 minutes west of Bonner-West Riverside in Missoula, this 42-acre green space will keep your pooch busy for hours. The main trail is a mile long and loops around the park. Footbridges allow you to cross Rattlesnake Creek. If your pooch needs a longer walk, venture down one of the forested dirt paths. This area is also home to the Mt. Jumbo trail system. At 3.8 miles, the North Loop Trail is the longest, but one of the flatter trails. The L Trail is only 2/3 mile, but it’s steep. If you opt for this trail, make sure your pooch is up for a challenge.

University District
If your pooch is begging for a walk, grab the leash and head over to Missoula and pay a visit to the Kim Williams Nature Trail. Situated along the Clark Fork River, it’s less than 10 minutes from Bonner-West Riverside. It follows an old railroad corridor through Hellgate Canyon. Since it’s nice and flat, this is a good option for a mellow stroll. The trail also connects with River Trail. Hop on this path and head west to Toole Park, Rankin Park, or Madison Park- take your pick! Or, if your pup has energy to burn, stop by Jacobs Island Bark Park. At this park doggos get six whole acres to dart and dash around off leash. Sounds furrific!

Riverfront
You’d never guess that Clark Fork Natural Area is located so close to town. This secluded riverfront park is a pawsome place to enjoy a peaceful walk with your furry sidekick. Located in Missoula, it’s less than 15 minutes from Bonner-West Riverside. Leash up your pup and stroll through a beautiful blend of trees, shrubs, and river scenery. If your pooch needs a break, find one of the benches and sit for a while. Doggy clean up bags and water are both available. Since the park has access to the Kim Williams Trail, Riverfront Trail, and the Milwaukee Trail, you can add extra mileage to your walk. Also, McCormick Park is just minutes away. This area definitely has furrific trail options!

Heart of Missoula
Is your pooch begging for a walk? Then drive 15 minutes west to the Heart of Missoula for a little park hopping. Start your excursion off at the Kiwanis Park. Your pup can either trot along the Riverfront Trail or peruse the grassy field for new smells. When your pal is ready to move on, follow the trail west to Bess Reed Park. This lovely park is full of trees and, of course, pawsome riverfront views. Stop here for a break before continuing on to Caras Park. With a gazebo, pavilion, and carousel, this park is a pupular destination for locals during the warm summer months. Walk around before finding a spot to just hang out with your doggo.

Rose Park
This Missoula neighborhood is home to Southside Lions Park, a cool neighborhood park with lots of open space for your pup. It’s just 15 minutes from Bonner-West Riverside. Take a brisk walk around the park’s perimeter for some doggy cardio. Your pooch will love breathing in fresh air and just being outdoors. For a change of scenery, pop over to Memorial Rose Garden. This delightful park features a playground and picnic tables. But more importantly, it has paved walkways and plenty of green grass for sniffing. As you make your way around the park, be sure to let your pup stop and smell the roses. Also, check out the moving war memorials. This park will definitely make your pooch one happy hound!
