Enjoy a day on the water with your canine companion at Long Lake Park on North Village Drive, just north of town. This almost 69-acre natural area features a lake and open areas, and hiking trails. Dogs on a leash are permitted as long as you clean up their waste. Remember to bring water with you when you come here.

You can also get out and explore nature by heading to Cranberry Lake Trail, located in the city of Round Lake Park to the east. This circular wood-chip pathway loops around Cranberry Lake and offers a peaceful hike by the water. Fido can join you on a leash. Make sure you bring waste bags and liquid refreshment for your outing.

Take a drive about nine miles south to treat your furry friend to some off-leash playtime. The Lakewood Dog Park on North Fairfield Road in Wauconda is a puptacular 66-acre area where Fido can romp and explore with other canines. A permit is required to use the facility. Remember to clean up after your pooch.

There's a furiffic park on Hart Road, just east of this community. Check out the trails in Hart's Woods Park with your canine companion.
