Seaside is situated in Monterrey County, and while it’s not right on the coast, this California community is just a bone’s throw away from the beach. Since it’s home to California State University, Monterrey Bay and Monterrey College of Law, your pup will run into plenty of students while she’s out and about. These colleges sit on the old military base of Fort Ord. The previous base is also home to the Bayonet and Black Horse golf courses, which often host PGA Tour events.

With several furrific parks, it’s safe to say Seaside will keep your canine friend busy. If your pooch is in the mood for a mellow stroll, head over to Farallones Park. It sits in a residential area and is well used by the local two legged children. Meander around the paved walking path with your pup, then let her sniff around the open lawn. Havana Soliz, Lincoln Cunningham, and Manzanita Stuart Parks are all adjacent to one another, and have open lawn areas and shade trees. They are connected with paved walking paths. A visit to these parks lets your pal get a three for one deal!

Pawsome parks, convenient beach access, and a local veterinary clinic make Seaside one furrific place!

If your pup is itching for a walk, help him scratch that itch with a trip to Laguna Grande Regional Park. This 35-acre park sits on restored wetlands. Its center feature is Laguna Grande, a large freshwater lake. Your pooch can cruise around the surfaced pathways that follow the lake’s perimeter. He’ll enjoy pawsome waterfront scenery while getting some doggy cardio. Keep in mind the trails are also used by cyclists and runners, so make sure your pup is leashed at all times. Bridges and observation platforms are placed throughout the surrounding marshland, so your pal can get an even closer look at the wetland habitat.

Does your pup have a bunch of extra energy to burn? A trip to Pachetti Park is what he needs. This 1.7 acre park is named after a former fire chief and pays tribute to Seaside’s first K-9 Unit. Three cheers for pups in uniform! Your pal will have plenty of room to dash and dart around on his own or chase a new friend. A path runs down the middle of the park, so you can walk around and keep an eye on your pooch. Small dogs have their own area to play and trees in both sections keep the pups cool when the weather is too warm.

If your pooch is getting restless, head over to El Estero Dog Park and let her run wild. This off leash area is located 10 minutes from Seaside in Monterrey, and can be found within El Estero Park. Dogs of all shapes and sizes come here to mix and mingle, as well as burn off some steam. Large and small pups play in separate areas. Water is available, but it is BYOB (bring your own bowl). After your pal is finished playing, clip on her leash and stroll around the main area of El Estero Park. This is the only Monterey park dogs can use, so its pupular with dog walkers.
