Bring your precious pup along the enjoy the sunrise, and spend the day tiptoeing in the tide until sunset! Your dog will need to remain on their leash at all times, and please don’t forget to clean up after your pup to ensure that the beach remains open and dog-friendly for the foreseeable future. That means bringing your own doggy waste bags! Additionally, it can get pretty toasty on those California beaches, so bring plenty of water to keep puppy hydrated.

    #1 South Big Sur

If your dog is a bit more timid, and not quite ready for a bustling and busy beach, perhaps try easing them in somewhere a bit less crowded. The perfect place for this is Pfeiffer Beach in the southernmost section of Big Sur. Though the beach requires a $5 cover charge per car, this help ensure that the beach doesn’t get terribly crowded. Perfect for a relaxing day with your furry friend, take a picnic and settle in the warm sun with the sand between your toes -- both yours and your doggy’s. What better way to get them adjusted?
