Southwest Carmel

Southwest Carmel is also known as the Golden Rectangle and it is considered by many to be the most desirable community in all of Carmel, and even on the Monterey Peninsula as a whole. One of the best parts of this neighborhood is its close proximity to the beach! The Carmel River State Beach welcomes dogs who are on a leash. The soft, white sand is pawfect for a long walk with your dog, and this beach is also known as a great spot for bird-watching. There are also public restrooms and fresh water for both you and your dog!

Northwest Carmel

One of the best things about Northwest Carmel is that it has so much to offer! You can get ocean or greenery views, and it's within walking distance of many of Carmel's best shops, restaurants, and galleries. It is also just a short walk to beautiful Carmel Beach. This off-leash dog beach will be paradise for you and your dog! You can pick up a coffee or a bite to eat at one of the nearby dog-friendly restaurants and then walk to the beach to let Fido get some exercise in the company of other Carmel pups. The beach also provides waste bags to clean up after your dog and tennis balls for them to chase!

Garrapata State Park

Garrapata State Park is just a few miles south of Carmel-by-the-Sea, and it is another great beach in the area that welcomes on-leash dogs! This beach stretches two miles, and you will see a variety of vegetation in the area and many visitors also spot sea lions and seals when they visit. If you'd like to do something more adventurous in the area, this beach offers access to local trails where you can explore even more of what Carmel has to offer when you come across the Big Sur coastline or views of the Santa Lucia mountains.

Carmel Point

Carmel Point is a luxurious neighborhood where you have unparalleled views of Cypress trees and all the sights and sounds of the Pacific ocean. Carmel Point maintains a privacy you won't find in every neighborhood, yet it is still only a few blocks from the beach. You can also access Garland Ranch Regional Trail from Carmel Point, and this is a great spot for exploring with your pooch. Carmel River runs through this beautiful park, and it also has many areas where dogs are allowed off-leash. When you visit this park, you'll encounter several types of trees and views and spectacular views of the Santa Lucia mountains.

Southeast Carmel

Southeast Carmel can be found minutes from downtown, and this cozy neighborhood filled with trees and cottage-style homes helps bring the fairy-tale vision of Carmel to life. Through Southeast Carmel, you can access Mission Trail Park, which boasts 35 acres of trails to explore with your dog! There are waste bags at the park's entrance as well as several garbage bins along the way and benches where you can rest and take in the sights. When you visit Mission Trail Park, you'll likely be able to do some rare bird-watching, and the plentiful trees and greenery will be endlessly exciting for your pooch to sniff!
