Somersworth is a city in New Hampshire that lies along the border to Maine. The town is home to a historic district, which captures its heritage from its beginning settlement in the late 1600’s. In the city of Dover, just south of Somersworth, lies the Long Hill Dog Park, located in the Longhill Memorial Park. Your pup will love hangin’ with the gang at the separate-sized pup areas for large and small doggies. There are lots of fenced, grassy areas for your pup to stretch his legs, and clean-up receptacles are on site. Be sure to bring plenty of water. When you and Fido get hungry, head to the Thirsty Moose Taphouse, 2 Home Cooks restaurant, or Newicks Lobster House, where seafood reigns. Outdoor pup-friendly deck dining is available at all places. Scoutland Trail is the place to be in the town of Rollinsford, southeast of Somersworth. This trail spans from Rollinsford to the border of Somersworth, and many branches go off in other directions as well. Catch the trailhead near the downtown area near the train trestle. There's a parking area for the trail near the boat ramp. Keep making your own customized loops on this day’s adventure with your pawtastic pup! The trails meander through the woods and are very well-maintained. Dogs must be on leas, and it is best to take a picnic lunch with plenty of water. Plan ahead as there are no restrooms nearby.
