South River is a borough in Middlesex County, just 36 miles southwest of New York City. There are many things to do here and in surrounding areas with your dog, including a host of parks that welcome four-legged friends and restaurants that are equally accommodating. There is a vet clinic in town, should Fido need some assistance.

Take your pup to the Daley’s Pond Recreation Area, a nice little park in town with a pleasant walk around the lake and plenty of grass to sit and relax on. There are benches for picnics, as well as a playground, basketball court and soccer field for the kids.

The Edward A. Grekoski Park on the banks of South River is another lovely green space to take your dog. Set over 58 acres, there are numerous walking paths and places to sit and enjoy views of Bissette's Pond, or have your packed lunch. You will need to keep your dog on a lead in both of these public parks, but they are great places to get some exercise and fresh air.

There is lots to see in this quaint little town, so why not pop Fido on a lead and go exploring South River?

In neighboring East Brunswick, you will find three little parks you can take your pup to for some outdoor fun. Country Lane Park is 28 acres of open space where you can play catch, throw around a Frisbee or play chase until you are both worn out! When you need a rest, there are picnic areas and toilet facilities here. Abraham Shalit Park is next door and features a lake to walk around, and is also just north of Tices Lane Park. All of these parks are connected with a walking path and follow the Sawmill Brook for a scenic view as you take a stroll. Bring water for you both, and your clean up bags.
