About thirteen miles southeast of Parlin, the Cheesequake State Park in Matawan offers 1,274 acres of land where you and your pup can walk and explore. Located in a well-populated part of the state, this park is a perfect getaway for pups and their families looking to get back to nature. You can hike the trails and let Fido sniff all the plants and trees along the way. There are convenient restrooms near the parking area. The picnic area is great for a BBQ with friends and their furry companions, and Fido will love splashing through Hooks Creek Lake.

Old Bridge (Old Bridge CDP)

Fido and the family will love visiting the Bark Park in Old Bridge on Mannino Park Drive, just seven miles from Parlin. There are two separate areas here, one for large dogs and another for smaller pups. The agility equipment is perfect for Fido to show off his skills, and there is water available in the park, but you will need to bring your own bowl. The doggie waste station is usually well stocked. Pooch parents can relax on a bench and watch the dogs run and play while the older kids hang out at the playground.

Raritan Bay

Just a few minutes east of Parlin, the Ruritan Bay Waterfront Park is a wonderful place to spend time with Fido. The park features 136-acres of open space where your pooch can run around and chase a ball. There is an amazing beach where you can walk your pup on a leash, and there are swings for the kids. Walk laps around the park and get some exercise while admiring the sunset in the evening. After a day at the park, South Amboy Pizza offers outdoor tables where you can enjoy pizza, calzones, pasta, and more with your furry family members.

Downtown Parlin

The John F. Kennedy Memorial Park is a perfect place to spend time with your pooch. You can stroll around the lake with Fido and feed the ducks, or try your luck at fishing. There are pedestrian bridges you can cross over into an open field, and your pup will have a great time sniffing the plants and rolling in the grass. If you are out with the kids, let them play on the playground while you and your pup sit on a shaded bench. Older kids can play on the basketball court or throw a frisbee for Fido on the ball field. Another pooch-friendly destination is Bailey Park where you can walk your pup and give him some exercise.
