Donald Park Dog Park is one of Highland Park's mutts-see destinations if you have a pup needing to go out and have some exercise and fun. This fully-fenced dog playground has an area for large dogs and another for the smaller pups. The grass and dirt give pooches a bit of nature to experience off-leash. Pet parents have plenty of shaded benches. Waste stations provide the necessary baggies for cleanups. This dog park is close to the river, so it can get muddy at times. The main park features ninety acres of recreational space for you and your leashed friend to explore. A scenic walk on a path along the river is a great way to end the day at this pawesome park!36

Metuchen
Edison is just a short two-mile drive north of Highland Park. The Metuchen-Edison Community Dog Park brought together a handful of dog-loving communities to create a free, public dog play space. This grassy dog park is completely fenced and features separate spaces for large and small dogs. Both sections have pieces of agility equipment. Ramps give your pup some extra training or just some extra exercise or fun. Water fountains designed for people and their pups make this a hot spot in summer. Pet parents appreciate the abundance of shaded benches under the bright blue canopy. Waste stations remind visitors to pick up after their pups.24

Pluckemin
Bedminster is located twenty-two miles northwest of Highland Park. Burnt Mills Dog Park has some real estate ready for a pup to check out. This dog park is a fully fenced half-acre of all natural terrain. The smells of grass, trees, weeds, and few patches of dirt terra firma will tantalize your pup's senses! All dogs of every size play together here. There's no private space for the small pups, so manners are a must! Amenities are basic. Water is not immediately available in the park, but waste stations are fully stocked with doggie waste baggies. The main park offers ten acres of open space and picnic sites. A leash is required in the main park.12

Bedminster is located twenty-two miles north of Highland Park. A green patch of grass here calls out to your pup for some off-leash exercise and play with some new furry friends. River Road Dog Park gives your pup a half-acre of fully fenced space. This dog park is a single area for dogs of all sizes. Water can be found in the main park, but it's not immediately available in the dog park. People will find plenty of benches from which to supervise their pups. Don't forget to clean up after your fur baby! Waste stations have the necessary supplies, so no excuse. The main park has a nice walking trail to experience together. A leash will be necessary within the main park.
