The Heights neighborhood is home to one of the largest parks in Piscataway, the dog-friendly 473-acre Johnson Park. This large park has a baseball field, two softball fields, eight tennis courts, two cricket pitches, a soccer field, and a farm with exotic animals. Johnson Park also has fitness trails where you can take your dog for a nice long walk on-leash. These trails go along the Raritan River and by the park’s two ponds. If you’re looking for a good off-leash dog park for your dog, head to the Whitman Avenue neighborhood in Edison, which is about six miles from Piscataway. Here, you can let your dog run free at the Metuchen-Edison Community Dog Park. There are separate areas for small and large dogs, and both areas include some fun obstacles and an agility course. Owners can watch their dogs play and run from the park’s canopy-covered benches. If your pup gets thirsty, there are water bowls and a water filling station available.
