Veterans Memorial Park also contains a playground and a gazebo with charcoal grills. After working up a sweat and an appetite, head to the nearby Mr. Subs and pick up a sandwich, which you can enjoy at one of their outdoor tables. Bagel Pantry is another nearby eatery that offers al fresco seating.

Spring Lake Park

Spring Lake Park is a woofderful place to bring the entire family, including four-legged members. Spanning 121 acres, Spring Lake Park houses several athletic courts, a playground, a performance gazebo, and a 5-acre lake, which is its key feature. There are also paved pathways that encircle the lake and meander around the park, allowing for a relaxing, leashed walk with scenic views of the water. Benches and trees surrounding the lake provide various spots for a nice picnic with your pooch and the rest of the family. So pack some food and Fido's favorite treats, hop in the car, and head to Spring Lake Park!

Hamilton Blvd

Let Fido make some new friends and burn off all that extra energy at the Southside Dog Park! Previously a vacant lot where refuse and rubble got dumped, the site is now a beautiful space where South Plainfield's canine residents and visitors can run, play, and socialize off-leash safely. The park is divided into two sections, one for large pooches and the other for small ones, while the ground is half gravel and half grass. Benches for the humans and drinking water for the dogs are provided as well. The Southside Dog Park is open daily, so you and Fido can drop by any day of the week.

Old Post & Vineyard

If you and your pup are passing through the neighboring township of Edison, be sure to stop by the Metuchen-Edison Community Dog Park so that Fido can meet other canines and get some exercise. With separate sections for large and small doggos, the Metuchen-Edison Community Dog Park features lots of space for off-leash running and playing. Water fountains, trash receptacles, and agility equipment can also be found in the park. To use the Metuchen-Edison Community Dog Park, Fido must be licensed and have up-to-date vaccinations. All canines are required to wear a collar with the current license tag at all times.

Papaianni Park

Papaianni Park in nearby Edison is a furrific place to spend a beautiful day with your pup. Go for a leashed stroll on the paved path around the lake, enjoy a packed lunch at one of the picnic tables, or just hang out on the benches with your best friend. Aside from people and canines, various bird species visit the park throughout the year. Since Papaianni Park is located next to a railroad, you will hear the trains when they pass by. Otherwise, it is a calm and quiet place where you can spend some quality time with your pooch.
