Dog Walking in Rainbow City
Rainbow City has one furrific pup-friendly eatery that you must visit while in town. The Local Joe's Trading Post is a gem hidden off the beaten path. Local Joe's is quite the local's place, so grab a seat quick before the covered outdoor dining area fills up. Their menu features southern barbecue classics such as pork bbq, chicken, ribs, and turkey. Basically, your shoes will be wet with drool if you don't sneak a piece of smokey meat for your pup! Salads and seasonal soups are also served for the conscious canines among us!
Aside from Local Joe's, Rainbow City is a great city to take your pooch if exploring local parks is your thing. The Rainbow City Park is an ideal location to walk, play, or rest with your pup. Overall, it's a well-kept park, complete with playground equipment, picnic tables, and restrooms. Fido will enjoy the quaint, on-leash walking path around Rainbow City Park!
Rainbow City is a cute and colorful place waiting to be explored with your pup! Plus, you just might find a pot of gold at the end of Rainbow Drive (wink)!
Best Dog Neighborhoods in Rainbow City
West Gadsden
West Gadsden
Rainbow City is surrounded on all sides by other quaint Alabaman towns. Head to the West Gasden neighborhood in Gasden to enjoy two sleeping accommodations, depending on your style. The Cove Lakeside RV Resort & Campground offers pups and their humans the chance to sleep under the stars in clean, comfortable tents (or your own RV) for a reasonable fee per night. Pups are welcome to explore the park grounds with you and partake in fun outdoor activities as long as they're well-behaved and leashed. On the other paw, if you and Fido enjoy the comfort of air conditioner and a fluffy mattress, then perhaps a stay at the nearby Econo Lodge Gadsden is what you'd enjoy most. The Econo Lodge offers affordable rates and two pups are welcome as long as they are under the 50-pound weight limit.
Camp Sibert
Camp Sibert
The neighboring city of Attalla is a great place to visit, especially its Camp Sibert neighborhood where you can enjoy local life in Attalla's City Park! The Attalla City Park boasts a variety of fun outdoor activities which you and Fido can enjoy together or with family or friends. Enjoy the tranquility offered by the woodsy walking path, or get out in the sun with your kiddos on the dynamic playground equipment. Your pup will be super excited to take a break from the car and get out to woof in some fresh Alabama air at Attalla's City Park!
Central South Gadsden
Central South Gadsden
There are no pup-friendly places to stay in Rainbow City, so take a short four-mile drive to the Central South Gadsden neighborhood in Gadsden to discover the Motel 6 Gadsden and the River Country Campground. The Motel 6 is a convenient location to stay as it's right off the highway. Not to mention, their affordable, dog-friendly rates are hard to beat! But if you want to connect more with nature and diversify your stay, then check-in to the River Country Campground. Here at River Country, you and your pup will be able to sleep, eat, nap, play, swim, walk/run, and partake in many other furrific outdoor activities! Call ahead to check their rates and availability!
Reynolds Cir
Reynolds Cir
While you explore the neighboring cities, make sure to sniff out the Reynolds Circle neighborhood in Gadsden to discover one of Alabama's unique birding parks at the James Martin Wildlife Park. The Martin Wildlife is the pawfect place to go walking, running or birding with your pup! Whether you want to explore the park's network of wooden footbridges or you simply want to work out in the mornings on the quaint foot trails, then the Martin Wildlife Park is the place to visit. Visitors and residents love the park's trail and bridge system which lets you freely explore the 300-acre lake and the backwaters of the Coosa River!
Downtown Gadsden
Downtown Gadsden
Rainbow City doesn't boast a very bustling downtown life, so if that's what you and Fido are woofing for, then make sure to take a drive to the Downtown Gadsden neighborhood in Gadsden. Here you and Fido have the chance to eat in the heart of the city at the local Jefferson's Restaurant. Dine outdoors with Fido until both your tummies and hearts are content! The delicious menu ranges from burgers and sandwiches to oysters and seafood baskets, to wraps, salads, and more! Try out their mango habanero wings but be sure not to spill any sauce or your pup will turn into a "hot" dog! After your delicious meal, head to the Marina at Coosa Landing to take a refreshing evening stroll along the boardwalk with your pup on-leash.
