Belmont Shore

Belmont Shore

This pawesome neighborhood is located only 10 miles from Compton, California and has an awesome beach for you and your pooch to enjoy. Rosie’s Dog Beach has some metered parking and some free spots available, but the free spots can be hard to find. This beach is clean, so be sure to keep it that way and clean up after your pooch. You'll find two sections at this beach -- one requires your pup to stay on leash, and the other is an off-leash area where he's free to roam! This section is where your pup can jump right in the water and enjoy cooling off. You will want to bring an umbrella for shade, extra water, and supplies for cleaning up. Rosie's Dog Beach is the pawfect place to enjoy some fun in the sun!

Westridge-Canyonback Wilderness Park

Westridge-Canyonback Wilderness Park

The Westridge-Canyonback Wilderness Park is a heavenly slice of nature just 11 miles away from Compton. This park has a variety of trails for you and your pup to explore. Some of the trails are paved and are easy to walk on, and others a little rocky, which makes the terrain a little more tricky. Your pooch will enjoy exploring all the nature along the trail as you walk. The park does provide waste stations along the trail for more convenient cleanup. You will want to make sure you bring water, as you will be in the direct sun since there is not much shade at this park. Grab your pup’s leash and enjoy a stroll through nature with your canine pal.

Hollywood Hills

Hollywood Hills

This furrific LA neighborhood is located 11 miles from Compton and is home to Runyon Canyon Park. This off-leash dog park encompasses a 90-acre fenced-in section so your pooch has a lot of room to run around! You'll find 160 acres of trails in this park to explore with your canine companion, and most of the surfaces are dirt. This park doesn't have much shade, so you and your pooch should bring something for shading yourselves if you will be here any length of time. There are a few water stations along the way, but be sure to bring extra water. The park also provides some waste stations for an easier clean up. Put on your walking shoes and see how much ground you and your furry friend can cover in this park.

Central Huntington Beach

Central Huntington Beach

Downtown Huntington Beach, located 26 miles from Compton, is home to the famous Huntington Dog Beach. This huge beach welcomes your pooch to frolic and run free off-leash. Your pup will love splashing in the surf and digging around in the sand. This beach is pretty pawpular with the locals, so your canine companion might even make a new fur-iend or two! You will need to pack the essentials, such as water, an umbrella for shade and supplies for cleaning up after your furry friend. Come out for a fun filled day at this doggie heaven!

Griffith Park

Griffith Park

Griffith Park is a huge, famous park that's home to the world-famous Hollywood sign! But this park is more than your average community park -- you'll find an observatory here, and you'll also have the op-paw-tunity to take a pony ride! If you time your visit just right, you can check out the haunted hay ride! The real gem for your pooch, though, is the 3-mile Mount Hollywood Trail. When on this trail, your pooch will need to be on their leash. The trail has a few places along the way where you can use the restrooms, as well as places to grab a bite to eat or drink. You will want to bring water with you.
