This off-leash beach welcomes your canine companion to romp around in the soft sand and make a splash in the water. There are always plenty of other dogs here so your dog is bound to make a new fur-iend or two! The beach even provides plastic baggies so you can clean up after your dog. Bring some water and come on out to enjoy a day at the beach!

Oak View

If you’re looking for a dog park in Huntington Beach rather than a dog-friendly beach, look no fur-ther than the Oak View neighborhood! Just across the street from this quaint residential area is Huntington Central Park, which has an on-site dog park for your pooch to play! Here, you’ll find separate areas for small and large breeds and plenty of seating. You’ll need to bring your own supplies, like a leash, doggie waste bags, and water. You’re more than welcome to explore the larger community park, as long as your pal stays on a leash.

East Huntington Beach

Hankering for a hiking adventure with the hound? You won’t want to miss the Santa Ana River Trail, which follows along the bank of the Santa Ana River and provides some furrific views. This trail -- which spans for nearly 50 miles! -- is an old rail line that is now part of the Rails-To-Trails Conservancy. This is a great place for you and your pooch to enjoy some time in nature together. The walkways are paved with asphalt and concrete, so if it’s hot out, you’ll need to check on your pup’s paws so they don’t burn. The trail has stations where you can use the restroom and take a break from walking or biking.

Belmont Shore

This dog-friendly neighborhood is located just over 20 minutes from Cota, and is a great place to enjoy a swim with your pooch. Rosie’s Dog Beach is an off-leash beach that’s incredibly pawpular with locals and visitors alike, so your pup will surely make a few new canine companions here. You’ll need to bring all the necessary supplies for a doggie beach trip, like drinking water, waste bags, toys, snacks, towels and something for shade. (And don’t fur-get the sunscreen for yourself!) Belmont Shore is the pawfect place for a seaside getaway with your best friend!

Newport Beach

Living in coastal California has its perks, especially if you and your dog consider yourself beach bums. In Cota, you’re just minutes away from several dog-friendly beaches, including Newport Beach! Your pup is welcome to explore the beach with you during certain times of the day. You’ll need to check the website for the current information, since it changes from time to time. This is not an off-leash beach, though, so be sure to keep your pup on a leash. He won’t mind, though -- he’ll be too busy playing with the other pooches who frequent this beach!
