There is a hidden gem that lies just 7 miles from Long Beach in Seal Beach. Gum Grove Park has hidden its two entrances just perfectly for you to go explore. The second entrance is right off Seal Beach and leads you up the mountains through the trails. The main entrance on Avalon lets you choose whether you want to go through the trails or play in the open area. There are two distinct trails that allow you to hike and enjoy nature. Your pup will need his leash for most of the area, but there are a couple sections of the trails that are off-leash.

Just over seven miles from Long Beach, San Pedro offers Knoll Hill Off-Leash Dog Park. Just as the name suggests, this is an off-leash park that has plenty of room for you to throw a frisbee, play fetch, or just run and stretch. The two separate areas allows for the smaller dogs to be separated from the larger ones. There is a second dog run right off the large dog area to allow your dog to grow accustomed to all the smells before releasing them. There are plenty of chairs and benches for the owners to watch their dogs play and make some new fur-ends.

Twenty-three miles north of Long Beach is the Arts District Dog Park. This is a small off-leash dog park that is the perfect rest stop for both humans and dogs.
