Campbell
Just 12 miles from Milpitas you will come across Los Gatos Creek County Park in Campbell. Your pawesome pal can take off his leash and run around either of the two fenced areas. The dog park is part of a bigger, human-friendly park, but Fido will need to be on his leash to play there. The dog park has plenty of benches so you can stay close while your best pal plays. You can find water fountains at both heights so that you and your canine companion have plenty of fresh water when you get thirsty. You can even find plenty of balls in case you forget to bring Fido’s favorite toy.

Saratoga
Just a quick 18-mile trip from Milpitas to Saratoga will bring you to Fremont Older Open Space Preserve. These views are something to bark at. There are multiple trails to choose from. Some will lead you up the mountain so that you can see the bay below. All dogs are welcome on the leash but beware of the other animals in the area. Don’t let Fido chase any squirrels or birds! This is a preserve which means you never know what you will find to bark at. If you’re looking for a little bit of rest and relaxation, you can spend the day in the meadow having a picnic or watching Fido chase his ball.

Fremont
If you are looking for an afternoon adventure, take a day trip Mission Peak Regional Park. The car ride is about 25 minutes long, but you will feel like you are a world away. You can watch the cows graze while Fido chases his ball. You could take a climb up the mountain via the trails for some breathtaking views of the city. Your darling dog will love exploring the new sights and smells. The only downside is that Fido will have to stay on a leash as there are a lot of steep parts that can be dangerous for humans and dogs alike.

Sunnyvale
Sunnyvale is about 20 minutes from Milpitas and is home to Las Palmas Dog Park. You can even bring your mini humans along to play at the jungle gym area right next to the fenced-in dog areas. Many donations of balls, toys, and even frisbees means that no dog will get left behind in case you forget to bring his favorite toy. You will have access to water fountains for both pups and people. The whole dog area is packed dirt, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a spot to dig! This is the perfect place for Fido to stretch his legs and feel the wind in his fur.

San Jose

Here, you will have the choice of several running options, including Astroturf and dirt, so that your canine companion can test his speed on all. Let Fido stretch his legs while you watch from the shaded bench area. After you have a drink at the water fountain, toss Fido’s favorite toy so he can get some much-needed exercise.
