Downtown Occidental
Downtown Occidental’s dining is not to be missed, and with Negri’s Original Italian Restaurant, your dog won’t miss out either! Bring them along to try out one of the favorites of the area. This restaurant is located in the heart of walkable Downtown Occidental. It serves a variety of foods that you’d expect from a high quality, but casual-leaning Italian restaurant. Start with some appetizers, soups, or salads, and move on to steak or pizza as your appetite dictates. Your dog can join you at the outdoor patio tables with a bowl of water while you sample these classic dishes.

West Occidental
Western Hills Garden in West Occidental is a beautiful and amazing place to bring your dog! There is a small admission fee, but you'll have full access to the gardens, woods, and ponds. There are guided tours, but if you want to get further away, you can trek out to a more remote corner. Dogs must be on leash on the paths, but there are more remote outer areas where they can be off leash, or while enjoying a pond. To preserve the work of the garden, off leash dogs should be under excellent voice control at all times.

Russian River Meadows
Russian River Meadows is just a 10 minute drive north of Occidental, in the neighboring community of Monte Rio. There, the Monte Rio Riverfront Meadow is a great place to visit with your dog, and is close to downtown Monte Rio. It offers a great view of the Russian River, which provides much of the moisture to the region's ample vineyards. You can walk the path close to the water or observe from a comfortable bench as the water, and life’s problems, float by. Excitable dogs will be happy that the meadow space is popular enough for people-watching!

Mills
If your dog needs an off leash dog park and nothing else will do, hop in the car and head to this neighborhood in Sebastopol, just fifteen minutes from downtown Occidental. The Ragle Ranch Dog Park inside the Ragle Ranch Park is the perfect place for your dog to stretch his legs! The park features shade and benches for humans, and fresh water fountains for everyone! The best thing for pups? A large, fenced in area where they can run and be free!
