Fair Oaks
Arroyo Grande is another city in San Luis Obispo County, and it's home to nearly 18,000 people. The southwestern corner of the city is less than half an hour from Santa Margarita, and this area is where the Elm Street Dog Park is located. This off-leash park has a big dog section with a wood-chip surface and a grassy area for small dogs. There's also drinking water for dogs, and there are plastic wading pools set up as well. Visitors love that this park is so clean and well-kept, and it also includes a double-gated entry system to keep your dog safely contained.36

Dry Creek Apartments
Southern Paso Robles is about 20 miles from Santa Margarita. Just across the street from the Dry Creek apartment complex, you'll find Sherwood Dog Park. This 1.25-acre off-leash park has separate enclosures for big and small dogs, and the surface consists of recycled wood chips. The park is located where Paso Robles' first airport once was, so the dog park has an aviation theme to honor the tradition. There is a dunking pool for dogs, as well as drinking water, waste disposal supplies, and seating for pet parents. The park runs on donations, so adding $1 to the collection box each time you visit is greatly appreciated by those who run the park!24

Northeast Morro Bay
Morro Bay is a beautiful city along the California coast, and the northern area of the city is about a half-hour drive from Santa Margarita. This area is where Del Mar Park is located, and within this park sits the Jody Giannini Family Dog Park. With separate sections for big and small dogs, and rolling hills and grassy areas for your dog to explore, this dog park is a dream come true! There are water and waste disposal stations in the park, as well as seating and shaded areas. The Jody Giannini Family Dog Park hosts several fundraising events and other activities during the year, so be sure to keep an eye out for their dates!12

Paloma/Pine Mountain
One of the nearest dog parks to Santa Margarita can be found in southeastern Atascadero, California. The Heilmann Dog Park is just a ten-minute drive from Santa Margarita, and it sits on about 2/3 of an acre. The dog park opened in 2005, and it recently added a separate section for dogs who weigh less than 25 pounds. There are two double-gated entries to the park, as well as shade structures, drinking water, picnic tables, and waste disposal supplies. There's even a dog wash station to clean your pet up before you head home! Heilmann Dog Park is free to use and runs entirely on donations and by volunteers.
