Don't worry if you have a small, big or just timid dog, because the park offers separate areas for all of them! Moreover, the park includes drinking water and some sitting areas in the shade of the trees. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing, which makes this the perfect place to visit for you and your pooch! Just don't fur-get your waste bags.

Westridge-Canyonback Wilderness Park

If you are in the mood for something a little bit different than just hanging out in an enclosed park, then you absolutely have to check out the Westridge-Canyonback Wilderness Park. Your pooch is very welcome to join you on the trails of the park where you both will enjoy the marvelous views of the ocean and downtown Los Angeles. There is a paved path that you can walk on and there are waste stations along many of the trails. If you decide to visit the park, know that there are no bathrooms, and you'll need to bring your own water with you.

Alsace

Another option that you can choose if you are in the vicinity of Van Nuys is the Oberrieder Dog Park, just under a 20-minute drive away in Los Angeles' Alsace neighborhood. This is an enclosed off-leash park where doggos can have the best of times! Although the park is not very big, there are separate areas for small and large dogs. Furthermore, there are water fountains in the park so you don't have to worry about bringing some with you. There is parking in the vicinity that is not difficult to find. Practice good pettiquette and bring some doggie waste bags; no one likes a litterbug!

North Highland Park

A little bit further than the previous parks, you can find yet another great place for hanging out with your dog: Hermon Dog Park. This park is located in Highland Park around 20 miles away from Van Nuys. This park offers a pawesome off-leash experience for your dogs in a safe fenced environment. There are two areas included in the park: one for small dogs and another one for large. The park includes trees for shade, benches for the human visitors to sit on, and water dispensers for the dogs. There are also dog toys in the park, so you won't need to bring anything but plenty of energy to play!

Central Malibu

If you want to go on a more adventurous hike with mesmerizing views, then you must visit the Solstice Canyon. This canyon is located in Malibu, around 29 miles away from Van Nuys. This place is pawfect for you and your pup if you want some extra exercise while enjoying some breathtaking scenes of the ocean. Your dog has to be on leash when you're visiting, though. Make sure you bring lots of water for you and your pup, and poop bags, too. The path is not fully shaded, so this hike can be a lot more difficult in the summer. Try visiting when it's not too hot for the most comfortable experience.
