Sun Valley isn’t one of the most dog-friendly neighborhoods in the city, save for four vet clinics that can help keep your pup in good health, but you won’t have to go very far to find them. LA has plenty of paw-friendly spots just a few miles away.

It’ll only take you about ten minutes to drive closer to the heart of Los Angeles, where you’ll find Griffith Park, a public park near the famous Hollywood sign. Here, you and your leashed pup can have a true outdoor adventure, hiking the trails, taking in the gorgeous scenery, and even having a picnic together at the Old Zoo Picnic Area.

If you want to head right into downtown Los Angeles, you’ll still only have about an 18-mile drive ahead of you. Here, you’ll find Grand Park Dog Park, a pupular local spot where dogs can socialize and play in a safe, fenced-in area. La Maria is a pupular Columbian restaurant set in a cozy, casual atmosphere. Or, try Mofongos for some authentic Puerto Rican food. Even the Cahuenga General Store has some outdoor tables for pups to enjoy some fresh sandwiches with their owners. In North Hollywood, you’ll also find the Whitnall Off-Leash Dog Park, which has plenty of space for your energetic pup to run, play, and socialize with some new friends.
