Salmon Drive
If you’re looking for a pawsitively great place to take your dog for an on-leash walk, Davis Forest is perfect for you. If you just want to go for a short walk, take the 0.5-mile Scenic River Overlook trail. This trail offers lovely views of the Quinebaug River. If you’re in the mood for a longer walk, check out the 1.24-mile Red Trail, which also goes along the Quinebaug River. This trail also passes by a unique historic mill. Bring water and doggy bags with you to keep the trail clean, and have a fun time hiking here with your pup!

Quinebaug Drive
If you want to let your dog play off-leash, head over to Mitchell D. Phaiah Dog Park, which is just five miles down the road from Brooklyn. Here, your pup can play and make new friends in one of two separate areas for large and small breeds. Both areas have plenty of space for your pup to run around, and also offer fun props for your dog to interact with, including stone benches and fire hydrants. Bring water for your dog and some toys or a tennis ball, and have a furrific time playing with them in this dog park!

Westside Norwich
Westside Norwich is home to another fun off-leash area, Estelle Cohn Memorial Dog Park. This huge dog park is located about 23 miles from Brooklyn, and it has separate big and small dog areas. Both areas have tunnels for your pup to run through, and in summer, there are plastic wading pools available. If your dog gets thirsty while they’re playing, there's water in the dog park. If you want to get a bite to eat with your pup after the dog park, head over to Jack’s Brick Oven Pizzeria. This pizzeria has a dog-friendly outdoor patio, and they’ll bring your pup a treat and water. While your dog enjoys their treat, you can dine on delicious thin-crust pizza, salads, pasta dishes, and more.

Bigelow Hollow Road
If you want to spend the day in the woods with your dog, head over to Bigelow Hollow State Park. This park is 21 miles from Brooklyn, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you can explore miles of trails that go through stunning forests and along the 18-acre Bigelow Pond. There’s also a picnic area where you can enjoy a snack with your pup. This picnic area even has charcoal grills that that can use to cook burgers or hot dogs for you and your furry best friend. North Windham is home to Mansfield Hollow State Park, which allows dogs on-leash. Located 14 miles from Brooklyn, this state park has beautiful hiking trails that go along Mansfield Hollow Lake. If you want to cool down after your hike, you and your pup can go for a swim in the lake. Bring water and doggy bags with you, and enjoy hiking and swimming here. After the park, continue the fun with lunch at Farmer’s Cow Calfe & Creamery. This café and ice cream shop welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables and serves wraps, paninis, soups, sundaes, and more.
