Central Waterford
Waterford is a town in New London County, Connecticut and it's home to about 20,000 people. The eastern edge of the city is less than a half-hour drive from Jewett City, and this is where you and your pup will find the Stenger Farm Dog Park. This off-leash dog park has a section for big dogs and a separate area just for little dogs. The park has a dirt surface, so be sure to bring a towel to clean up muddy paws if you visit after it rains. There are usually water bowls set up throughout the park, but bring your own water to fill them.36

Essex Village
It will only take you and your dog about half an hour to drive to the Paw Dog Park at Viney Hill in eastern Essex, Connecticut. Many visitors say this is the most beautiful dog park they've been to, and it includes big and small dog sections, as well as various pieces of agility equipment throughout the park. The rest of Viney Hill Park sits on 104 acres of land, and it opened in 2001. There are also seven walking trails in Viney Hill Park, and your dog can join you on these and other areas of the park as long as they're on a leash.24

Conning Towers-Nautilus Park
Groton is another town in New London County, and it's less than 20 miles from Jewett City. The town's northwestern quadrant is where you'll find Copp Family Park. This 240-acre space was once a farm, but now it's open to the public, and it features fields, meadows, and wetlands. Copp Family Park also has its very own dog park known as Central Bark Dog Park. There's a spacious area for dogs of all sizes to run off-leash, as well as a separate enclosure just for small dogs. There are also miles of trails on a variety of terrain throughout the rest of Copp Family Park, and you can walk your dog on these trails when they're on a leash.12

Westside Norwich
The Estelle Cohn Memorial Dog Park, also known as Pawsitive Park, is an off-leash park in an area of Norwich, Connecticut known as Westside Norwich. This area is only ten miles from Jewett City and less than a 15-minute drive. There's so much to love about Pawsitive Park, from its separate big and small dog sections to its double-gated entries and much more. Each section has a wading pool and agility equipment, and there's also drinking water and waste disposal supplies. There's a walking path surrounding the dog park if you'd like to go for an on-leash walk as well!
