Cementary and Backus
Estelle Cohn Memorial Park, aka Pawsitive Park, is where all the cool canines of Norwich hang out. Don’t let your pup miss out on the opportunity to mix and mingle with new four legged friends. If she’s on the small side, she can romp around in the little breed area. Both areas have wading pools during the summer. Your pal can test out her athletic prowess on the tunnels and hurdles. Running water and benches for pet parents are also available. A walking path circles the off leash area, so when your dog is finished playing, take a couple laps for a nice cool down.

City Center
If your furry BFF is ready for a walk, grab his leash and head over to the Howard T. Brown Memorial Park. This delightful park sits right on the banks where the Yantic and Shetucket Rivers meet. The park also contains the trailhead for the Heritage Trail. Follow this trail for some pupperific riverfront scenery. As you make your way up the Yantic River, you’ll get great views of the Norwich Harbor. You and your four legged sidekick can read the interpretive signs to learn about Chelsea Landing. The trail exits the park and follows city streets, eventually arriving at Yantic Falls.

If you don’t feel like cooking, don’t worry, you won’t have to leave your four legged companion at home. For an Italian meal, check out Illiano’s Grill. Menu items include salads, soup, grinders, pasta, pizza, and more. Well behaved dogs are welcome to sit on the patio. The Pantry is a farm to table café that serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner. Have a leisurely breakfast on the patio with your pooch by your side. Lazizah Bakery is also nearby. Not only does this charming bakery have scrumptious baked goods, you can also get a salad or sandwich. Your pup can join you at one of the outdoor tables. Bone Appetit!

Sprague
Next time your pooch needs some time in the great outdoors, head 10 miles north to Salt Rock State Park. Located in the small town of Sprague, this park covers nearly 150 acres. What used to be farmland is now a pawsome campground and park with walking trails and modern amenities. Bring a tent and doggy sleeping bag and stay the night in one of the many campsites. During the day, your pooch can explore the forested area near the Shetucket River. Walking trails are also available around the campground. In the evening, he can chillax by the fire and gaze at the stars.

Buddington Road
Does your dog need to burn off some extra energy? Head over to the Central Bark Dog Park. Located inside the Copp Family Park, this off leash area is just 20 minutes south in Groton. Your pooch can check his leash at the gate and run around to his heart’s content. Petit pooches have their own area to play in, so if your pup is on the smaller end, he can socialize with dogs his own size. Mature trees provide shade in the summer and benches give pet parents a place to sit back and relax. When he’s done playing, clip on his leash and follow the trails in the main park.
