Sand Hill

As a highly rated community for having such a welcoming atmosphere for dog owners, Sand Hill is home to a local dog park in South Windsor. With a four-bone rating, the local park -- or should we say bark? -- is perfect for all canines to enjoy. The park is one of the newest additions to the neighborhood, yet is already well-loved and visited by many friendly dog faces. The park is fully enclosed with separate areas for big and small dogs so everybody can safely play here off-leash. The park has several small trails to walk with your dog for one-on-one exercise, and the park is also spacious enough for games of Frisbee and ball.

Coventry

Only twenty-five minutes from South Windsor, Coventry is a natural getaway for all dog lovers. With a clean pond to swim in with Fido, Creaser Park in Coventry is a perfect way to spend your time with pal. Dogs are asked to remain on leash since the park is not enclosed, but that is okay because beside you is your dog’s favorite spot to be. Feel free to hike around the local paths of the park with your dog in search of new adventure, or pack a picnic and have a relaxed day in nature. Coventry also has a hiking trail called Hop River State Park Trail, which you and your leashed pal can explore together. This area is a perfect place to let your dog get some much needed exercise while sniffing around new scents and frolicking with other dogs.

Windsor

Windsor is only fifteen minutes from South Windsor, and has a very unique set of dog-friendly shops for you to look around in with your four-legged bestie. Evergreen Walk has numerous stores that boast dog-friendly environments for shopping and dog lovers. Windsor also has two dog parks for your dog to choose from, too. With plenty of parking, benches, and shaded area, this local dog park runs smoothly in this city. Small dogs are separated from larger dogs, so dogs of all sizes are welcome to come enjoy the dog park. Inside this nice grassy field, your dog can feel free to romp and play in the separate fenced areas as you watch from a shaded bench.

Broad Brook

Broad Brook is a quick fifteen-minute commute from South Windsor, with a lovely little dog park that is highly rated amongst all park goers. Although on the smaller side, this park is a one-acre slice of doggie joy. Your dog’s tail will not stop wagging at this amazing dog park. Since the site is so small, first-time dog park goers or dogs that are a tad bit skittish will thrive here. With a nice grassy field, your dog can feel free to romp and play in the fenced area of East Windsor Dog Park.

Granby

Granby is twenty-five minutes from South Windsor, and is home to a highly rated dog park.  This fenced park is a perfect place to play games of fetch and to frolic inside. This area is definitely a fun place to let your dog get some much-needed exercise while sniffing around new scents and frolicking with other dogs. With shade, picnic tables, and a one-of-a-kind doggie fire hydrant. Outside the fenced area, you’ll find a small brook to swim in.  If you and your dog love being outdoors, then consider this multi-use trail for sure -- your dog will thank you for it!
