Fifth Street
This neighborhood is home to Fort Myers Shores’ one dog-friendly park, Shores Nature Trail Park. This peaceful two-acre park welcomes dogs on-leash, and it has one trail you can explore with your dog. This boardwalk trail takes you through a wetland area filled with cypress trees and many other types of native trees. You may also see native birds while you’re walking through here. If you’re hungry after your walk, sit at one of the park’s scenic picnic tables and enjoy a snack or lunch with your dog. Bring doggy bags and water with you, and have a great day out at the park.

Olympia Pointe
If you’re looking for a place where your dog can play off-leash, head to Barkingham Dog Park. This park is about 8.5 miles from Fort Myers Shores, and it has two fenced areas: one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Both areas have large, shady fields for your dog to run in. They also have fun agility equipment for your dog to play on, including ramps to climb. If your dog gets messy while they’re playing, a dog rinsing station is available. There’s also a doggy water fountain that’s perfect for thirsty pups. Your dog’s tail won’t stop wagging the whole time they’re at this puptastic dog park!

Butterknife
Butterknife is home to Gulfside Beach, a beautiful beach that welcomes dogs on-leash. Located 33 miles from Fort Myers Shores, this white-sand beach offers stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico. It also has a long shoreline where you can take your dog for strolls, and you and your pup can also play in the water together. Bring doggy bags and water with you, and have a fun day at the beach! If your dog is a good boy at the beach, bring them over to Island Paws. This locally-owned pet store sells freshly baked treats your dog is sure to love. They also have all-natural treats and fun dog toys.

Cypress Cove
Cypress Cove is home to another great off-leash area, Woof-a-Hatchee Dog Park. This dog park is 20 miles from Fort Myers Shores, and it has separate areas for large dogs and small or shy dogs. Both areas have big fields with plenty of space for dogs to run around with their new friends. There are also doggy water fountains and doggy bags available in the park. After the park, treat your dog to a snack at Love Boat Ice Cream. This ice cream shop offers dog-friendly outdoor tables, and they give free puppy cups to their furry customers. For their human customers, they have over 50 homemade ice cream flavors.

David Avenue
If you’re searching for another pawesome place to take your dog for an on-leash walk, head to Lehigh Acres Trailhead Park. This park is 17 miles from Fort Myers Shores, and it has a 0.5-mile paved trail that goes around a beautiful replicated prairie and by a canal. Plus, the park also an observation area where you can relax and take in the scenery. Doggy bags are available throughout the park, but you’ll want to bring water with you. If you’re hungry after your walk, head to El Tarasco. Grab a table on their dog-friendly outdoor patio, and enjoy delicious Mexican fare, including tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, and enchiladas.
