Built after Hurricane Charley of 2004, the Harborwalk meanders alongside the Peace River for 2.4 miles, offering vistas of blue water and mangrove trees. The Alligator Creek Preserve is located nearby, with four miles of public nature trails. Leashed dogs are welcome on the path, which has inhabitants ranging from armadillos and alligators to otters and eagles.

If you and Fido are looking to get some grub, look no further than Nino’s Italian Bakery. They serve breakfast all day as well as your favorite baked goods. You can also get the standard lunch fare, like burgers and sandwiches, on freshly baked bread. Keep in mind that there are only two pet-friendly outdoor tables, so you’ll want to call ahead to make a reservation. Be sure to visit on a Friday night and howl your lungs out with karaoke!
This scenic neighborhood is located directly overlooking the Peace River, near Tamiami Trail. This town also loves pups! Edgewater Dog Park gives your dog the opportunity to run, play and socialize off-leash. Amenities at this park include a separate small dog area, water hoses, water bowls and waste bags. Acline is conveniently located off Interstate 75 and Tamiami Trail. Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park is comprised of 43,000 acres and protects more than 100 miles of shoreline along the harbor. It is the third largest Florida State Park and they allow visitors and leashed pups to take advantage of the hiking, fishing, and paddling opportunities! Observation areas of mangrove forests, marshes, scrub habitats, and pine flatwoods can also be enjoyed by Fido.
