Placida is a small bedroom community in Charlotte County, Florida. Sitting on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico with the Coral Creek running through it, Placida is the perfect spot for any pup who loves the water. Although there are no veterinarians in Placida, just down the road in Englewood there are three that your pup can visit.

Head out to the Don Pedro Island State Park for a fun afternoon out with your pup. The park has great activities like a beach and tons of hiking trails that you and your pup can explore together. Make sure to keep Fido on a leash since there are endangered species located in the park, and special habitats to help keep them safe.

While hanging out in Placida stop in Villa Capri for a bite to eat. They dish out authentic Italian food, including crab stuffed ravioli or shrimp scampi. Their outdoor patio is the perfect spot to sit and relax with your four legged friend while enjoying a great meal. The trails are covered in trees to help keep you and your pup cool, but make sure to bring some water along with you since there aren't any areas in the park to stop and get some.     Go on a great hike with your furry pal on the Gasparilla Island-Boca Grande Trail. This pawsome trail is 12.8-miles long with a 19-foot elevation gain and an out and back route. The trail runs along the length of the Gasparilla Island with a flat terrain that is perfect for all skill levels. At times the trail can be shared with golf carts, so make sure your dog stays on leash. While hiking, you will be rewarded with a beautiful scenic view of a lighthouse, and be surrounded by water since the island has a creek on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other.
