Brohard

Brohard Dog Park is a dog beach with all the amenities of a dog park. Fido can get off his leash and play fetch, squish around in the sand, or bark at the waves as they roll in. There are water stations set up for you and your dog, as well as plenty of cleaning stations which make for convenient cleanup. If you don’t want to dig your toes in the sand, there are plenty of shaded areas to sit and supervise Fido while he plays. They have even included fire hydrants just for Fido! Remember, your pup should respond to voice commands if he wants to explore the beach off leash.

Woodmere

Woodmere Park is a recently redone park that offers many creature comforts. Unfortunately, these are not fur friendly. When you arrive at the park, you will see a no pets sign. This applies to the main park. However, just follow the trail on the right, and it will wind around to a fenced in area that is designed just for Fido. It is a little ways in the backs, so your shy companion won’t be nervous about passing people. Both areas have water fountains, cleaning stations and pup pools for Fido, and seating for you. It is the perfect hidden getaway!

Legacy Trails

Legacy Trails is part of the Rails-to-Trails network. This branch of the system runs from Venice all the way to Sarasota. You will need to keep your dog on the leash while you explore all the recently converted rail corridors. There is so much history here to sniff out. The beauty of the natural area is kept as much the same as it would have been seen out of a railroad car all those years ago. You will pass over bridges, creeks, and waterways as you make your way through. Just be sure to bring plenty of water for you and your dog.

Miami Avenue

Back Eddy Bistro is the perfect cozy outdoor spot for you and your dog to people watch. The menu has a great selection of sandwiches and drinks. Fido will be greeted with his very own water dish as soon as you get your own drink! Dog-friendly seating fills up fast, so it is best to call ahead if you’re looking to get a table on the weekend. Otherwise, just walk up and ask to be seated! The cozy atmosphere and nice staff will have Fido begging for more visits in the future. Come on over to enjoy a good meal and maybe make a new fur-iend or two!

South Venice

Looking for a Fido-friendly eatery in Venice? Look no further than the southern part of town! Grab your leash and your dog and check out Cedar Reef Fish Camp’s pet-friendly patio. Your pawesome pal will be greeted with ice water at the same time you get your drinks. You can even choose Fido’s food right off the special doggie menu! His food is prepared just like yours -- just with pup-friendly seasonings. There are few places that will treat Fido the same as they would a human patron! You’ll enjoy the food and the atmosphere, and Fido will certainly enjoy being fussed over and treated like royalty by the staff members!
