The city of Waukegan, located north of Chicago, is a pupful area for you and Fido to live or visit. With 49 community and neighborhood parks, you and your pup will have several ways to enjoy the great outdoors. Many of the parks permit dogs on a leash up to six feet long on the walking paths and in the open fields.
When you want to go for a jog or a hike with your pup, head to the Robert McClorey Bike Path. This 25-mile trail stretches the length of Lake County. Dogs are welcome to join you on the trail, provided they're on a leash up to six feet long and that you clean up their waste.
For a quiet walk in the park, take your pup to Roosevelt Park. This 12-acre facility has a walking/jogging path that loops around the South Branch of the Waukegan Ravine Stream. Follow the bridge across the north end of the pond as you enjoy the scenery with your special pal.
After you get some exercise with your pooch, head to Green Town Tavern on Genesee Street. Satisfy your appetite with a salad, wrap, sandwich, or other selection from the menu. This pup-friendly restaurant has three outdoor tables where your canine companion can lounge at your feet.
