Central Goshen

A definite must-see on your doggy to-do list is in Central Goshen, north of Goshen College and just off a series of creeks and rivers. That’s where you’ll find the Mill Race Trail, a magnificent multi-use trail that welcomes leashed, well-behaved dogs and, of course, well-behaved owners as well. Since the locale is never terribly busy, you and your canine companion can enjoy a nice walk in the rural landscapes without worrying about being overrun by a bunch of other hounds and their humans. Just be sure to pick up after yourself, and bring some fresh, clean drinking water.

East Goshen

Make your way eastwards in Goshen, and you’ll find another path that can’t be missed! The Pumpkinvine Nature Trail is one of the many trails supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that seeks to beautify former railways all across the country. There’s plenty of shade available along this trail, and both you and Fido will get to enjoy the magnificent forest views. The scenery simply can’t be beat, so maybe you can even pack a picnic for you and your pal. Be sure to bring plenty of treats, both the doggy and human varieties. You and your pooch will pawsitively love this trail!

East Mishawaka

If you and your furry friend are looking for a bit more off-leash fun, your trip should definitely involve stopping in the eastern region of Mishawaka, where you’ll find the Margaret Prickett Dog Park. Featuring two large and fenced-in play areas for both small and large dogs, this park is noted as being very well-kept and clean. Let your pup pal prance through the bunches of bushes and trees, toss a Frisbee around, or simply sit back and relax while your pooch plays. Your dog will have plenty of friends to socialize with, and you may make some friends, too!

Northeast Nappanee

If the previous dog parks just aren’t your cup of tea, or if you’re looking to broaden your hound’s horizons a bit, a trip to northeast Nappanee is certainly worthwhile. Just a short drive from Topeka, you'll find Nappanee Dog Park, a local park built and run from community donations. It boasts two large play areas, both of which are fenced in to keep small and large dogs separate and safe. You’ll find plenty of cozy and shady benches to settle on, too. Meanwhile, your canine companion will be doggone ecstatic to meet other doggies to play with! Don't forget to bring water and waste bags.

North Goshen

Last but surely not least, make your way back to Goshen and trek northwards a bit. If you’re looking for the perfect way to unwind after a day of fun, you and your pup pal will be perfectly pleased to check out the Goshen Brewing Company. With twelve craft beers exclusive to this location alone, and a Southern-inspired menu, you can’t go wrong. Choose from your choice of tables out on the open patio, where your dog will be welcomed with open arms. Take the opportunity to toast yourself, your friend, and the fantastic day you’ve shared.
