Hello! I understand how important it is to have a reliable and trustworthy person to take care of your loved pet and I am just that person. I’m a full time travel nurse and love all furry animals. I’ve not met an animal that doesn’t end up loving me. I have two dogs and grew up with dogs and cats my whole life. I love to explore almost as much as animals do so I would be a great fit for any animals next friend.

Best Dog Friendly Neighborhoods in Middlebury
Railroad Street
Railroad Street
Does your dog love the expansive swath of Midwestern lands? If your dog's a fan of long treks through golden cornfields, then the place to live is off Railroad Street. Here, you'll find a trailhead to the famous Pumpkinvine Nature Trail. The total length of the trail is 17.6 miles and it connects many of the neighboring communities, spanning two Indiana counties. Beginning in Goshen, cutting through Middlebury, before finally ending in Shipshewana, the trail offers plenty of sights on the way. You'll see horse-drawn plows of the local Amish community tending to their crops or handpicking flowers. The trail is paved, except for a small section outside of Middlebury, with mile markers guiding your way through the well-maintained pathway. Fido can't wait to start the trek!

Does your dog say "gut morning" when he wakes you up for his morning walk? If your dog is a fan of the Amish-German lifestyle, then you need to head to the pet-friendly restaurant Das Dutchman Essenhauss off Northridge Road. The Amish-German restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a menu that spans over five pages. You can get specialties like Broasted Chicken, Beer Noodles Over Mashed Potatoes, and the Garden Salad. The hearty food mixed with the authentic German-style architecture makes Das Dutchman a pawesome place to grab a plate! Fido's more than welcome here, and will probably get his belly scratched by the owners, Bob and Sue Miller.

Does your dog never want to leave your side? If you and your furry best friend are inseparable, then living off Middlebury Street in the western part of town is a great location for you two! There are two pet-friendly restaurants with open-door policies for the doggie crowd! The first is an Italian restaurant called Lucchese’s. This place is owned by an older couple who opened their doors in 1984 and have been serving Middlebury residents ever since! You can try entrees like Baked Mostaciolli, Veal Parmegiano, or Limoncello Shrimp. The other dog-friendly option is just north of Lucchese's. You and Fido can head to The Garden Cafe at Linton's Enchanted Gardens. This cafe has a diverse menu of salads, sandwiches, and breakfast items like The German Gardener Sandwich or Grandma's Back Porch Salad. Try them all with Fido right alongside you!
South Elkhart

Does your dog get his playtime in with other dogs at the dog park? There's no dog park in Middlebury, but if you make the 22-minute drive into Elkhart, you can visit the Robert L. Nelson Dog Park. This dog park is a members-only dog park, but getting a membership is as easy as registering since it's free. There are two off-leash areas where your Fido can play no matter what size he is. The play area is about an acre large and has a pleasant backdrop of tree groves. After a trip to the dog park, you can head to the pet-friendly coffee shop, Electric Brew, for an artisan coffee or delicious baked goods. Electric Brew has 10 different types of coffee beans that make various specialty drinks. Fido's amped up just thinking about it!
Downtown Shipshewana

Does your dog know he's pretty much all carnivore but can't get enough bread as a table scrap? If you live off River Pack Drive in the neighboring town of Shipshewana, you can visit the dog-friendly Bread Box Bakery. This relaxing cafe has an outdoor gazebo that's a perfect place for grabbing a bite to eat and lounging with your dog. You can try the Turkey Waldorf, Classic Reuben or a Mandarin Almond Chicken Salad! The Bread Box also has homemade jams and jellies. Many of the neighborhood dogs hang out here with their owners, so your pup will have tails wagging alongside his own!
