Just next door to Chatham, you will find Harwich, which makes a great day trip for you and your pup. If you like to ruff it, you will love Thompson’s Field, which has sniff-tastic trails through the woodlands and meadows. Your pup is welcome to be off-leash here, so he can run and roam freely. You and your furry friend can also stretch your legs at the beautiful Red River Beach. Your pup can play in the sand, as well as take a dip in the warm water since pooches are welcome during off-season. If you get hungry, don’t forget to visit School House Ice Cream. Not only can you enjoy freshly made ice cream, but your pup can tuck into a Doggie Sundae made specially for him!

This beautiful 270 acre park is located next door to Chatham in Harwich, which means that it is not too far away for a road trip. This is a pawsome place for hiking the nature trails, with over eight miles you can explore on foot with your pup and admire the beauty of the mountains and forests. There are plenty of other recreational oppawtunities here for all the family to enjoy, including rafting, swimming and a tramway. Be sure to bring some water and treats for you and your pooch, as you scout around Hawksnest State Park! All dogs are welcome, as long as they are on their leash.

Just west of Chatham, you will reach the puptown of Harwich. Here you will have the oppawtunity to exercise your four-legged friend on the Cape Cod Rail Trail and experience the many landscapes of Cape Cod! This sniff-tastic trail expands for 22 miles through pine forests, sandy beaches, and parts of the salt marshes; your pup will love to investigate all of the new scents and sights along the way! For a relaxing outing, head to the Pleasant Road Beach. You can enjoy the sand and sea with your pooch, and even better, dogs are welcome to be off leash during the off-season. For a bite to eat, stop at Scribanos Market and Deli for some delicious sandwiches and subs, as well as enjoy a seat at one of the dog friendly tables outdoors.
