Ludlow is a town in Massachusetts that was first established back in 1774! The local history is full of old farming families from back in those days, and anyone interested in Revolutionary War and Pre-Revolutionary history will enjoy the trip. Dogs aren’t typically history buffs, though, and Ludlow has enough going on in the present to amuse them! Ludlow has one local vet to keep dogs happy and healthy, and you can branch out into nearby Wilbraham for more veterinary choices if your pup needs a second opinion.

If you want to camp with your pup in the great outdoors, Springfield Camping and Outdoor is a great, local place to go. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s in Ludlow! You can bring your RV or, for actual camping, rent a tent space for you and your (leashed when outside of the campsite) pup.

If you want something more in the style of a day trip, consider Ludlow’s Recreation Department instead. This area is primarily geared towards humans, with sports fields and pools, but the whole family can enjoy the open, grassy picnic areas and walk the paved walking trails. It’s not the biggest park, but it’s got plenty of people watching for social dogs!

Your dog’s trail will be wagging with all of the sniff-tastic trails through the forest, including the Finger Lakes Trail, which is a popular one mile hike through the woodlands. In addition, the Westover Conservation area has 12 acres of land to explore with your furry friend, with plenty of hiking trails to expend some energy.
