If your pooch has been sitting around all day, grab her leash and head over to Laurel Park. Located in the Laurel Street neighborhood, this park will perk her right up. The natural beauty of this park makes it a pupular spot. Take a brisk walk through the wooded trails and let your pup search for the small creatures that may be hiding in the trees. There are also picnic areas, so bring a lunch and stay awhile. Just don’t forget to pack a bone or two for your furry sidekick. Bliss Park is also nearby. Check it out for a change of scenery, and for even more walking trails.

Turner Park
Nothing beats spending some time with your furry friend at the park. So grab your pooch and head over to the Turner Park neighborhood and pay a visit its very own Turner Park. With 84 acres of woods and fields, this is definitely one of Longmeadow’s largest parks. Although dogs are not allowed on the athletic fields, there are still plenty of walking trails for your four legged friend to enjoy. He can get his fix of nature as he wanders through the forested terrain. Be sure to keep him on a leash. No doubt about it, a walk through this park will make him a happy hound!

Town Center/ Bay Path College
If your pup is ready for an adventure, check out Fannie Stebbins Wildlife Refuge. Nestled in the Town Center and Bay Path College neighborhood, this slice of natural beauty is a pupperific place for a walk. Clip on your pooch’s leash and explore over 300 acres of wetlands, meadows, and forest. The main loop trail clocks in at about two miles. If that’s not enough for your pal, follow one of the side trails. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, such as eagles, ducks, owls, coyotes and deer. Your pal us sure to have a tail waggin’ time!

Forest Park
Forest Park is directly north of Longmeadow in the neighboring city of Springfield. Located in the neighborhood of Forest Park, this park stretches over 700 acres and is a local favorite. Your furry pal will wag her tail with delight while exploring all that this park has to offer. The north end of the park has several amenities including playgrounds, sports fields and even a zoo! For more of a natural experience, head down to the southern end, below Porter Lake and the duck ponds. Let your pooch sniff her way around the network of trails. She’ll love spending time with you in this beautiful setting!

Springfield City Center
Looking for a new spot to walk Fido? If you head five miles north of Longmeadow to the town of Springfield, you’ll come to the Riverfront Park. This gem of a park runs along the Connecticut River and is home to the River Walk. No bones about it, your four legged friend will love an afternoon stroll down this 3.7 mile paved path. He can leisurely move his four legs while soaking in the river scenery and catching views of downtown Springfield. Since this trail is also used by cyclists, runners and rollerbladers, be sure to keep your pup on a leash at all times.
