West Springfield, also known as “West Side,” is a large city of almost 30,000 residents. This huge community has lots to offer pups and their families, including almost two dozen vet clinics within ten miles.
One of the closest dog-friendly areas is Forest Park, just five miles southeast in Springfield, MA. Great for running, biking, and picnicking, this park is a haven in a bustling city. There is a gorgeous duck pond and a rose garden, and you can even visit the park’s zoo if you’re willing to pay a small admission fee.
Eight miles north lies the Holyoke Dog Park. This fenced-in, mulch-turfed park has waste disposal stations, a large bench, and even some agility equipment. Just be sure to bring your own water -- bowls are provided, but water access is not.
A bit further out lies Westfield Dog Park, just twenty minutes west. This park, run by a group of volunteers, offers lots of shade and off-leash play. There is even a path and park nearby.
For a bite to eat within city limits, visit Auntie Cathie’s kitchen, Hofbrauhaus, Classic Burgers, or Bertucchi’s. All of these West Springfield favorites welcome pups on their outdoor patios. Whether you’d like to eat, hike, or play, there are countless activities for you and your furry best friend to enjoy in West Springfield!
