Newton Highlands North
To escape the hustle and bustle of the city, explore the Cold Spring Park with your furry friend! This is located east of Waban village in this Newton neighborhood, and offers a lot of pawsome fun for your pooch. There is a 1.4 mile sniff-tastic trail through the forest where you and your pup can stretch your legs and enjoy getting back to nature. There are also fields where you can play fetch with your doggo’s favorite toys! What’s more, at the southern end of Cold Spring Park, you are welcome to unclip your dog’s lead and let him or her run and roam off-leash!

Newton Lower Falls/ Lasell College
Since there are not any dog friendly places to stay in Waban, you only have to go northwest into this Newton neighborhood to find the pawsome Hotel Indigo. Here, you and your four-legged friend can enjoy a comfortable stay for the night. You are welcome to bring two pups of any size, as long as you pay an additional fee. For some fun in the sun, head over to the Hamilton Playground where there is plenty of green open space where your pup can run around when there are not sports being played. Plus, you can also enjoy a family day out here, since there are tennis and basketball courts, as well as baseball facilities.

Mid Newton Centre
For a fun day out with your pup, head two miles northeast of Waban to Mid Newton Center. Here you will find the Newton Centre Playground where you can have a ball with your pooch! There is lots of green open space that your furry friend will love, and you can play fetch here all day long. In addition, there is a special off-leash recreation area, where your pup can run and roam safely. Your pup has the chance to socialize and make new furry friends here! Other puptastic features at the Newton Centre Playground include a playground, tennis courts, baseball field and basketball court.

Newton Centre Station
If you are looking for some pawsome dog friendly eateries, you won’t have to go far to find them! Just 2.1 miles east from Waban, you will reach Newton Centre Station. Here you will find the Sandwich Works for a bite to eat. This is a puptastic spot that whips up some delicious sandwiches, with a range of choices, as well as soups, wraps and smoothies. Plus, your furry friend is welcome at one of the outdoor tables. Your pup can even get his own water bowl! Another furrific place you can visit is Sweet Tomatoes. Here you can dig into some pizza and chill out at one of the outdoor tables with your pooch.
Reservoir
For an adventure with your pup, hop in the car and travel four miles south of Waban to Needham! Here you can explore the Hemlock Gorge Reservation with your four-legged friend and enjoy some fresh air and exercise. This pawsome place is located along the banks of Charles River, and there are sniff-tastic trails that are around three miles long that you can wander around and enjoy the forest with your pup. Your canine is sure to love all the new scents and sights here! Of course, don’t miss walking over the Echo Bridge and Sudbury Aqueduct, as well as listening to its famous echo underneath via the walkway!
