Elkridge is a community in Howard County, Maryland, and it's the oldest settlement in the county, dating back to 1733. This is evident in the many historical buildings and churches in Elkridge, including Melville Church on Furnace Avenue. Its original building was the first Methodist church built in 1772. The Lawyers Hill Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Another fabulous historical site in Elkridge is The Thomas Viaduct. It is the oldest multiple-arched, curved stone railroad bridge in the world. The very first telegraph message that traveled from Washington, D.C. to Baltimore was wired across this bridge.

Elkridge has a wide range of recreational areas for you and your pet to enjoy. Patapsco Valley State Park runs along the Patapsco River in North Elkridge, and Belmont Manor and Historic Park is home to Belmont Manor – built in 1738 – which sits on 68 acres of rolling hills that include trails and extensive gardens and also serves afternoon tea.

And if you’re looking for dog-friendly places to stay, there are plenty of them in nearby Baltimore, including La Quinta Inn & Suites, and the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel, which is located right on the water.
