Canton
There's an area of southeast Baltimore not far from downtown known as Canton, and this neighborhood is just seven miles from Brooklyn Park. Canton is home to its namesake dog park, an off-leash space with separate enclosures for big and small dogs. There isn't much grass at this park -- instead, it's mostly a dirt surface, so be sure to bring a towel for muddy paws if you visit after it rains. The park provides drinking water and waste disposal supplies, and there are also seating areas. Just across the street from the park is a harbor with a Korean War memorial, and it makes for a beautiful place to walk with your dog on a leash.36

Highlandtown
Highlandtown is a historic neighborhood in Baltimore that was established in 1866, and it's about a 15-minute drive from Brooklyn Park. Just west of this area is Patterson Park, a popular city park with playgrounds, a pool, a skating rink, and an off-leash dog park. The Patterson Park Dog Park has separate enclosures for big and small dogs and an artificial turf surface which keeps the park in good condition. In the summer, there are small pools set up for dogs to swim in, and the park also provides drinking water for dogs and waste disposal supplies. Your dog can check out the rest of Patterson Park with you if they're wearing a leash.24

Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon is considered the cultural and historic center of Baltimore with all sorts of eclectic dining and recreation activities. The area is only 15 minutes from Brooklyn Park, and it's home to Howards Dog Park. This off-leash dog park opened in 2016, and it has different areas for large and little dogs. Visitors love how clean and well-maintained this dog park is, and the park provides drinking water and waste disposal supplies. A community association worked together to create the park, and they continue to maintain it and make sure it's a safe and enjoyable place for Baltimore pets and their humans to enjoy off-leash playtime.12

John Downs Loop
In about 20 minutes, you and Sparky can drive to the Downs Memorial Park Dog Beach on the Chesapeake Bay in eastern Pasadena, Maryland. Downs Park is a 236-acre park with playgrounds, pavilions, sports courts, a fishing pier, and many other features in addition to the dog beach. There's a large section of the beach where dogs are permitted to go in the water and play off-leash, but be advised that the area isn't entirely fenced. There's a rinse-off station to clean your pup up at the end of your visit, and there are also five miles of trails in Downs Park your dog can trek with you on a leash.
