Plan a weekend under the stars with your canine companion. Head about six miles southwest of town to Take It Easy Campground. This facility offers lake access, hook-ups, and wireless access. There are wooded and open spaces for you to explore with your pooch. Most dog breeds are welcome here, provided they're under control and you pick up their waste.

Spend a day exploring the shore by taking Spot to Point Lookout State Park, located about 18 miles south of Lexington Park. This facility has a boat launch area, beach access, and hiking trails. Dogs on a leash are permitted in designated areas of the park. Bring water and waste bags with you. This is a carry-in, carry-out facility.

There are hiking trails through the woods here that you and your pup are welcome to explore. Dogs are permitted in outdoor areas of the park, provided that they're restrained on a leash and you keep them off the athletic fields. Make sure you clean up after your pooch.
