This restaurant serves world-famous chili and has a comfy outdoor seating area where you and Fido can dine together. The locals love the Hard Times Traditional Chili flavors, like the Terlingua Red, Cincinnati Chili, or the Texas Chili. Hard Times also serves up delicious chili mac, burgers, wings, and more! If you live in the northern pocket of White Plains, you can walk over. Fido's already licking his chops just thinking about visiting this White Plains local favorite!

Middletown Road
Does your dog consider himself a true trailblazer? He'll love living off Middletown Road, where you can access the Indian Head Rail Trail. This 13.4-mile trail is part of a national rail-trail refurbishing initiative. The Department of the Interior's Federal Lands to Parks Program takes old, unused railroads and re-purposes them into beautiful walking paths for hikers. Fido's more than welcome on the Indian Head path as long as he's on his leash. The trail weaves through picturesque nature scenes throughout Charles County. If you're lucky, you can even spot some wildlife, like turkey, deer, or even a bald eagle!

Turkey Hill
Does your dog love playing with other dogs? If you visit the Turkey Hill neighborhood, you can take him to the Turkey Hill Dog Park to make some new friends! This public off-leash park has an acre of space with two separate areas for dogs to play -- one for big boys and for little guys! Amenities include benches, parking, and doggie clean-up supplies, but there's no running water here, so don't forget to bring a bowl for Fido. If your dog prefers more solitary exercise, you can also walk by the Port Tobacco Creek. The soothing sounds of the creek and the trees in your periphery make a great place for a walk with Fido!

Southeast White Plains
Does your love to play with other pups from sun-up to sun-down? If you take him to the White Plains Dog Park, he'll find plenty of fun neighborhood pups to play with! The park offers over an acre of space and has running water, parking, bathrooms, doggie waste stations, and benches. During the winter months, the water shuts off, so you'll need to bring your own when Fido's playing in the snow. There are two fenced areas where your pup can play, whether he's a Doberman or a Maltese! The dog park is open 7 days a week, so Fido can play as much as he wants here!

Does your dog begin salivating if you just mention the words "Bark-B-Q?" If you drive up to Lancaster in White Plains' neighboring town of Waldorf, you can visit the pet-friendly Famous Dave's Barbecue. Famous Dave's pit masters use hickory logs and hand rubs to achieve that famous finger-licking flavor! Your dog is more than welcome to hang out with you in the outdoor seating area. If he's lucky, maybe he'll get a rib bone to munch on! Try the classics, like the Texas Beef Brisket Basket or a South Side Rib Tips Platter. Don't forget to order a few cornbread muffins!
