Nauck

Nauck

Arlington's Nauck neighborhood is located 32 miles from Indian Head, and has a great dog park for you to check out. The Shirlington Dog Park is a huge off-leash dog park that's completely fenced in with a double-gated entrance for your pup’s safety. The park is open daily until dark. Seating and shade trees are available for added comfort. If you're looking for an on-leash stroll, hit the walking trails here. The paths are mainly dirt-covered, and pass by a little stream where your furry friend can jump in and take a swim! Or, if they're more reserved, they can just wade in the water to cool off. Keep in mind you will need to bring water and supplies for cleaning up, and also a towel if you plan to let Fido dip his paws in.

Downtown

Downtown

The heart of our nation's capital is an excellent place to hang out with your canine companion and learn about American history at the same time! Downtown Washington, D.C. is 29 miles from Indian Head, Maryland. One of the main sights to see here is the National Mall. Your pooch is welcome at the National Mall as long as they stay on their leash. There is a grassy area where your pup can lay down and you can both enjoy a nice picnic lunch on the grass. Practice good pettiquette (and patriotism!) by packing some waste bags to pick up after your pooch. No one likes a litterbug!
