Chapmans Landing Road

Chapmans Landing Road

Chapmans Landing Road is a small riverfront community near Potomac Heights in southern Maryland. This historically significant area was once inhabited by Native Americans; today, it's home to Chapman State Park. Miles of walking trails will lead you through breathtaking woodlands and the Tidewater region. Make sure to take a camera with you -- you'll want to snap some pics of your pooch! Mount Aventine Mansion is one of the most pawpular local attractions here; however, if you travel with Fido, he won't be allowed inside the buildings or on the grounds. But with so much space to explore, we don't think your pup will mind too much!

Glenleagues

Glenleagues

White Plains is a veritable paw-adise for dog owners and sporty mutts in southern Maryland, and it's located just 15 minutes from Pomfret. Start your adventures here on the Indian Head Rail Trail. You can find a trailhead right in the heart of town. Open to leashed pets and bicyclists, this path is rarely crowded and offers tons of things to see along the way. Need a little more exercise? Paw on over to White Plains Dog Park, located not far from Waldorf. Two spacious enclosures are available for both small and large breeds, and tired pet parents can relax at the seating area while watching their pals play.

Chapel Point State Park

Chapel Point State Park

For a truly back-to-nature experience, travel to Port Tobacco, a small town in southern Maryland on the banks of Potomac River. Your furry baby will fall in love with Chapel Point State Park! This 820-acre park is particularly pawpular with anglers, so if you fancy yourself a fisherman (or fisherwoman!), bring a rod and reel and see what you can catch. Fido will probably want to explore the walking paths winding through wooded areas. Keep in mind that this area is undeveloped, so keep your pal on a leash to protect the wildlife that lives here!

The playgrounds are well-maintained and shaded, and the walking trails are the pawfect place for an adventure.
