Hollis
The town of Hollis, bordering East Waterboro to the northeast, offers great fun for your pup at California Fields Wildlife Area. It features a fenced dog walking area for pups of all sizes, and well-maintained hiking trails for humans and dogs alike. These trails are used by equestrians with separate trails for ATV’s. This is the premier spot where sporting dog clubs train. There is a stream stocked with trout for fishing fun, and large open areas where locals come to fly their kites. Picnic tables are plentiful, and restrooms are on-site. Remember to pack water and clean up bags.

Northeast of East Waterboro, you will find the town of Limington. Discover Little Ossipee River Trails with its pet-friendly 2,200 acres here. Hike the miles of trails of this preserve which follow along the Saco river. Some areas may be steep, so plan ahead. Better for the smaller or elderly pups is Jagolinzer Preserve with its 20-acres and scenic loop trail that passes the old dam and the Saco River. There is no leash law, but your pup must be under voice control. Be sure to pack a nice picnic basket, water and clean-up bags to keep these areas unsoiled.

Lyman
Lyman Town Park at Bunganut Pond is a pup-friendly destination in the town of Lyman, southwest of East Waterboro. Fido will love a day full of play on their expansive open fields. There are also sand volleyball courts and horseshoe pits where you can join in or watch from the sidelines. For the more adventurous pup, there are miles and miles of hiking trails through the woods, suitable for any fitness level. Bring a backpack full of burgers to grill on their charcoal pits and eat at the on-site picnic tables along water’s edge. Restrooms and water are provided.
