Park Rapids City Center
Park Rapid's City Center is home to a couple of different parks, all of which welcome dogs, so long as they are kept on a lead. Red Bridge Park is a one acre area with a striking red bridge that connects the park to a segment of the Heartland State Trail, which is never disappointing when it comes to a dog walk. Heartland Park, with its fishing pier and beach access, also makes for a pawtastic walk, as do the grassy areas of Green Acres Park. If you and Fido are tired after all of that walking, spend the night at the dog-friendly Red Bridge Inn, which can be found right next to the park.

Lake George
The Lake George neighborhood provides access to quite a few different parks, meaning that you will never be short of a new place to walk Fido in here. One must-visit park is the Itasca State Park, which is the oldest in Minnesota. Stretching out for over 32,000 acres, and home to over 100 lakes, this really is doggie paradise! The Paul Bunyan State Forest is another gorgeous area for you and your pooch to explore, with over 115,000 acres of hilly terrain and forested land. Dogs are welcome in all of Minnesota's state parks, so long as they are kept on a lead, and be sure to bring plenty of water and doggie bags too.

Badoura/Hubbard
Two of Minnesota's state forests dip into the Badoura/ Hubbard neighborhood, making this the perfect area for some exciting dog walks. The Badoura State Forest stretches out for just over 15,000 acres, but keep in mind that many parts of the forest are quite boggy, so be sure to bring a few towels for Fido afterwards. The 34,000 acre Huntersville State Forest can also be accessed from this neighborhood, and boasts everything from hiking trails to river canoeing. Dogs are welcome in both parks, but do need to be kept on a lead. Bring water and doggie bags with you.

Nevis

This 49 mile trail is completely paved, although many segments also have a grassy surface that dogs absolutely love. With everything from lakes and rivers to hardwood forests and an array of wildlife, this is a trail that Fido will wag for. Be sure to bring doggie bags, water and a lead.
