When you are out and about exploring everything that Walker has to offer, you are bound to get hungry. When your stomach starts to growl, be sure to head to Benson’s Eating & Drinking Emporium! This is a pawsome place where you can get your paws into some delicious burgers, sandwiches, pizza, wraps and melts when you are hungry. In addition, there are outdoor tables for you and your pooch. For comfortable accommodation when you are in Walker, stay at the Stony Point Campground. Here you can camp under the stars on the shores of Leech Lake with your pooch. All furry friends are welcome, as long as he or she remains on the leash at Stony Point Campground.

Akeley
Just 20 miles from Walker, you will find the pawsome puptown of Akeley! Here you can join the furrific Heartland State Trail, which has over 49 miles that you can explore with your furry friend. You and your canine can expend some energy and go walking near lakes and rivers, as well as through woodlands and more rural areas. This old rail trail was actually one of the first rail-trail conversions in the US! There is also the oppawtunity to see some wildlife on the Heartland State Trail. This includes white-tailed deer, beavers and porcupines, as well as bald eagles.

Whipholt
Every pup loves a trip to the park, so be sure to drive 13 miles from Walker to Whipholt! Here you will find the pawsome Whipholt Roadside Park where your canine can roll and roam around in the sun. Here there is some green grass for your furry friend to explore, as well as some sand your doggo can get underneath his or her paws. This puptastic park is right next to Leech Lake, which means you can enjoy the fresh air. There is a sniff-tastic trail that you can follow where you can take in the views too! Just be sure to bring some fresh water for your beloved companion when it is hot outside.

Nevis
For a pawsome day with your pooch, head 16 miles from Walker to the puptown of Nevis! Here you will find the puptastic Nevis Wayside Park where you can enjoy some exercise and playtime with your pup. There is plenty of grass here for your canine to explore, as well as some furrific amenities that you can use throughout the day. This includes baseball fields, sand volleyball courts, a basketball court and a playground for the kids, as well as some benches where you can chill out with your beloved companion. Just be sure to bring some fresh water for your doggo when the sun is out!
Cass Lake
For a road trip with your furry friend, head 20 miles from Walker north to Cass Lake! Here you will find the puptastic Soo Line Trail – Northern Route. This sniff-tastic old rail trail is over 113 miles long, which means there is plenty of exploring you can do with your canine when the sun is out! Investigate the forest and explore the puptowns along the way, with plenty of picnic areas and restrooms on the route. Since the Soo Line Trail – Northern Route is popular with ATVs and snowmobiles at different times of the year, it may be best to keep your canine on leash.
