Located south of St. Louis, Cape Girardeau is a beautiful city with furtastic activities for you and your canine companion. Situated near the Mississippi River, Riverfront Park is perfect when Fido needs a relaxing walk after a long day. Benches line the walking trail, and you and your pup can admire the barges and riverboats as they make their way up and down the river. On almost any day of the week, you will probably meet up with other pooches and their parents taking advantage of a beautiful day.

When Fido needs routine or emergency medical care, there are three well-qualified veterinarian clinics in town. These clinics feature friendly and compassionate staff who will take great care of your furry family member. Family owned pet stores are another great destination when your pooch needs dog food or accessories. Busch Pet Products offers unique collars and leashes to make sure your pup looks stylish on your daily walks.  Another great store is Mississippi Mutts where the owners not only offer quality dog food, but also support the community and offer great advice when you have questions about your four-legged child. Both stores allow your pup to come on in!

After spending the morning walking with Fido, stop by Cup ‘n Cork, a small coffee shop in the historic district. You can have a cup of joe in the morning, or stop by for nachos, sandwiches and a cold beer in the afternoon. The owner and staff love to say hello to your pooch and you can find a seat at the outdoor tables. If you or a friend needs a dog-friendly place to spend the night, Drury Plaza Hotel and Pear Tree Inn both welcome pets for an additional fee.
